Birthday Fun-Times!

Yesterday was my Birthday. It was also my girlfriend Jana's Birthday. Here's Jana and I on Saturday night:
The Birthday Girls
We have such cool friends! They surprised us with a limo so that we could all go out to dinner and then onto the clubs and drink all we wanted! Here is a group pic of Jana and I with all the boys in the back of the limo:
Limo Group
We thought it was funny that the boys were all squeezed into the back seat together while all the girls were all stretched out in the rest of the limo:
Boys in the Back
Last but not least, Marie. She knew I really wanted to go out downtown and she fought for me when all the married folks just wanted to stay in all night. Boring! Check out this pic of the two of us. I don't know why it turned out like this but I think it is pretty damn cool!
Crafty & Amp

Coming soon! Last week my momma sent me so much great stuff for my Birthday. I haven't had a chance to take pictures of it and post it.

Clapotis here I come!

YAY!
title or description
I won this wonderful yarn from Mystical Creations Yarns. It is a worsted weight Beaded Cotton Rayon blend which promises the appropriate gauge. I am so excited to see what this yarn is like in real life. I've been coveting it online for sooo long. Yippee! I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and knit the wonderous clapotis with it. I'm too excited. It's about time for me to get some nice yarn and make something nice for myself. Right? I always feel guilty about doing things for myself and try to give everything I make away. I do this because: 1. I don't feel lazy being knitty or crafty if it is for someone else, I feel generous, and 2. My house is nothing if not cluttered. I have way to much useless shit sqeezed into every corner. Don't get me wrong. I only have things that I absolutely adore in my house (except for that damn painful, cat fur infested futon of mine) but I have to draw line on my clutter somewhere. I could stop buying yarn & beads and actually get rid of all other crafty notions throughout my house but then what would I do with my hands in the evenings as I watch TV. Clean?

Pink Aluminum

You're damn right. I learned to knit on pink aluminum handed down from my mama. We don't have all your fancy wooden sticks in West Virginia. I didn't even know bamboo needles existed until I started reading blogs and things on the internet... I do like using them now, but am not ashamed of my 30 year old aluminums. They're classic.
pink aluminum
You are pink aluminum.Retro, straightforward and fun, you love classic
things. If they're 99 cents at Goodwill all the
better! You are moved by striking colors and
tasty morsels, and you like a stitch-n-bitch
session in the sun. Just remember, while
you're being kitschy cool, don't get too cold.
Ice cubes are best kept in your cocktails,
baby!

What kind of knitting needles are you?

Happy Birthday Jen!

Check out this card I made for one of my best friends Jen. It's a little nod to the funniest movie ever. Steel Magnolias
jen loves pork-n-beans...she eats them with everything.
I made her this wonderful toilet paper roll cozy that was designed by MK Carroll
From AboveFrom Afar
I didn't want to crochet the whole thing because I thought the white toilet paper would show through black crochet stitches. Also, I didn't want to knit slick acrylic with a bunch of aluminum circs so I decide to knit it flat. I ended up with WAY to much nori so there is about a 5 inch overlap on the roll. I think this adds to the authenticity of the piece, no? Hope you enjoy it Jen! And please don't curse me for further cluttering you house.

I'm an FOin' Machine!

I have been going crazy trying to get all of the projects done for my best friend's wedding. I really love to help and I certainly volunteered for it all but now I'm starting to worry that I won't be able to get it all done. Right now I am burning the CD's of love songs that she wants to give away at the reception. I'm on maybe 15 of 150. Thankfully I was able to pass on the labels and sleeves to Jen.
The Love Birds
I finished a lot of the jewelry for the wedding but I'm really struggling with the necklace. I started this bracelet to be the necklace but, I thought it looked a little too bulky for that so I just stopped at bracelet length.
Wedding Bracelet
I used the same beads that I used for the hairpiece but so that match really well.
Evil Eye
I don't know how to take those beads and get them to look nice for a necklace. I was rushing myself too because I wanted to get all this shit in the mail with Jess' birthday gift. I was already a week late as it was. So I just mailed it all off and decided to really take my time with the necklace and see if I could come up with anything. Also I wanted to make sure that this is the look that she wants so I'm waiting to get some feed back from her. I also sent off these:
Bridesmaid's Earrings
The earrings for all 5 bridesmaids. Those were pretty boring to make. Lots of crystals and and wire wraps. Lastly and pretty boring is the necklace and earrings that match her rehearsal dinner dress.
Rehearsal
I know that they are pretty simple and not to creative but that's what she wanted. I aim to please.
